White Paper Planning and Writing

A well-written white paper can be one of the most effective pieces of marketing collateral you can have when you’re selling to tech buyers. If put together well, a white paper can effectively inform your prospect, affirm—or in some cases, newly establish—your credibility in the industry, and set your product or service apart from the competition.

I approach each project in two phases:

Planning

In the planning phase, we’ll develop a thorough outline of the project which will:

  • Document your goals for the paper
  • Identify your specific target audience
  • Define your desired call to action
  • Overview the recommended content and sources for research
  • Outline the review and revision process
  • Produce a summary document of the planning phase and draft an estimated project schedule

Writing

Based on the planning document, I’ll write the white paper, conducting interviews and additional research as needed, and submit a first draft for your review according to the project schedule.

Once all reviews have been completed, I’ll revise the document based on the process outlined during the planning phase and submit a final draft for review and approval.
